Hello. My Pavilion dv7 came with windows 7 from the factory when I was prompted to upgrade to windows 10 I did. I have been running windows 10 for about a year and half now when I decided to Reset my pc and reinstall windows last week. Unfortunately after a couple hours of letting the laptop reset I received an error message: Your pc/device needs to be repaired error code:0xc0000221. I'm assuming all I need to fix it is a system recovery disc. I called HP and told them whats going on and that I"m willing to pay for a recovery disc but they no longer support this product..... They told me to buy a new laptop lol. What do I do? Run the laptop over with my car?

Hi:
You can still get recovery disks from this non-HP vendor, who I believe buys up the excess recovery disk inventory when HP decides to no longer carry them for the model series.
If you want to reinstall W10, you can clean install it by making your own installation media using the media creation tool at the link below.
When you go to install W10, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically reactivate once you are connected to the internet.
