Windows 10 updates continue to fail and I am frustrated that this only happens on my HP machine and finding cause and solution is impossible.

Any ideas?

Suggestions for a repair shop to fix?

You COULD take it to a repair shop -- but they most likely would charge you for doing the same thing as is in this Microsoft thread:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4477073/error-0x800f0831-when-you-install-an-update

I did this and tried it with all the previous packages and they all go through the installation to 100% and all then fail installation.

I also tried "dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup" from a command prompt; this seemed to complete its task but made no difference.

Also, HP Sure Run gives regular message that a threat to shadow copy was detected and corrected.

Any additional thoughts?

Thanks,

Tom

Sorry, that SHOULD have worked.

If you go here to the community Win10 forums, you can download the Updates individually and install them manually:  https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/

I would start with the most recent update as many of them are Cumulative.
