Hello,
I decided to replace my HDD drive with SSD. So today I mounted completely new SSD Crucial mx300 275GB.
Then I prepared USB drive with Windows 10 ISO file, and to detect it on boot I needed to enable legacy support in bios, because otherwise none of disks were detected. After changing that I was able to start Windows 10 installation, but on the step where I should partition on which I want to install my Windows, the list of disks is empty. And when I want to browse disks I can see only my external usb pendrive plugged into laptop.
I've seen there are many similiar problems, but I am confused and don't know what to do. Should I try to install some additional drivers or what ? That SSD was never used and tested and maybe it should be formatted or something. During Windows installation I tried to see all disks using windows command prompt but on the list only USB drive was present. Any idea how to troubleshoot or (even better) solve that issue ?

Hi,
The latest version of W10 should have the correct drivers. W10 will correctly format the SSD once it's detected during the custom install process. You might need to go to Intel and download the pre-installation IRST drivers and place them on your pen drive.
- Press F6 when prompted by the message: ...
- Press S to Specify Additional Device.
- Insert the F6 driver disk when prompted by the message: ...
- Press Enter.
If you changed your PC from UEFI to legacy mode then your pen drive was not properly prepared to boot UEFI mode. Use a tool such as RUFUS to build an UEFI boot pen drive.
You did create the HP external recovery media, right?
There is a possibility that the SSD is bad or not compatible with your PC.
BTW---Your PC is not certified for W10. Some PCs require a BIOS update before W10 will work correctly. There may be some similar models that were certified for W10 but your particular model wasn't.

Thanks for your reply, but I still have the same problem.
I downloaded f6flpy-x64.zip package from intel site you mentioned, and placed it on usb drive. I tried install these drivers during windows instalaltion, but thet were marked as not compatible with my hardware. I installed them anyway but my SSD drive still isnt visible.
I didnt create HP external recovery media, I just prepared bootable usb from windows10.iso using Windows USB Tool.
Is it possible, that in legacy mode SSD isn't detected, and how it is different in UEFI mode ?

Hi,
Your post has fundamentally incorrect statements.
Changing from UEFI to legacy has absolutely nothing to do with SSD detection in the BIOS. Been there and done that.
Create the HP diagnostics flash drive and run diagnostics. It will tell you if the SSD is working or perhaps the internal connection was damaged during installation. HP Hardware Diagnostics
