Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a Windows 10 Update, when I get to the desktop, the keyboard doesn't work. The mouse works, sometimes. Sometimes I can select the user to login in. Sometime not. When I can select the user, when I type, it doesn't register. So I can't login.

I used the HP Start menu to test keyboard and mouse, passed the tests, so it's not the hardware.

I was at 1909. I did not note what the update was. I have Windows Update set to pause/delay. Too many years of no trouble have made me lax, I have no more pre-update info to share.

Just sharing my problem. Take care all. Stay healthy.

Hi, can you double check and see if the update you refer to is KB4580364 (you can see it in the update history of the Windows Update section)?

If so, we may have found a potential culprit, because in my case, I suspect that because of this update the fingerprint logon doesn't work anymore on my system.

For your own edification, it would be worthwhile to know what Win10 version and build you are now running since the update.  To do this, enter "winver"  (without the quotes) in the Search area and make a record of the results displayed.

If the update is causing the issues, and that is more common than you may think, there is no immediate fix for that.  MS may EVENTUALLY admit to it and then, EVENTUALLY issue a patch for that -- but that could be weeks, if not months, away, if ever.

If this was mine, I would go into Windows Update and attempt to back out the recent update -- at least if that works, the issues should then go away for a while.
