Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try upgrading to the previous version of W10 (1809).
Make a DVD of the ISO file run it from your Windows desktop and see if it will update W7 to W10.
You can download any previous W10 ISO file from this site at the link below. Download and run the Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe file.
Use the Microsoft utility that I zipped up and attached below to transfer the ISO file to a DVD so that it autoruns from the windows desktop.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the links and zip file. Sorry I am not a techie so don't know what W10 (1809) means.
I assume this meant Windows 10 October 2018 Update - November 2018. Will try this and if it fails, will go back to an older version. Hope I am right?

You're very welcome, Bharat.
You are correct.
The various release versions of Windows are labeled by the year and month of their final development stage.
For example v1903 is the latest Windows release from March 2019. v1809 is the previous Windows release from September of 2018.
That is how they are all labeled.
So when you run that Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe file utility from the Heidoc site, and you select Windows 10, you will be presented with every W10 release since its inception.
I only suggested that you try the previous version because I have not heard of any reports like the one you received on v1809.
I even got the same message as you did when I tried to update from 1809 to 1903, but the reason I got it was because I had a SD card inserted in the card reader at the time, and for some reason W10 doesn't like that one bit.
Removing the SD card was one of the suggestions provided in order for the update to go through.
