"Hi, I am trying to enroll my HP device into the Windows 11 Insider Beta Channel. The update downloads and initiates successfully via Windows Update. However, during the mandatory restart to apply the update, the system freezes completely at the Windows 11 logo.
Details:
Device: HP Slim desktop PC S01-pF2000i
Issue: Hard freeze at logo during 'Working on updates' restart.
Troubleshooting done: I have checked that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are enabled in BIOS. I have also cleared the SoftwareDistribution folder and attempted the update twice, but the freeze persists at the same point
Please help me to resolve this issue

Hi @TechScafflod,
Thank you for your patience. I’ll keep this clear and direct. For your HP Slim Desktop PC S01-pF2000i:
👉 No, it is not recommended to run beta (Insider/preview) updates on this PC.
Why
- HP systems are validated for stable builds of Windows 11
- Beta builds may introduce:
- Driver incompatibility
- System instability (freezes, crashes)
- Hardware communication issues
Even though Intel and other component manufacturers release newer drivers, HP ensures everything works together as a complete system, which is why stable releases are recommended.
What you should do
- Continue using stable Windows updates only
- Install drivers and BIOS updates from:
- HP Support page
- Windows Update
We do understand your point about having more flexibility with Intel/storage drivers and quicker updates.
👉 We will forward your feedback to our backend team as an update for review and consideration. Inputs like yours help improve future support and compatibility options.

Hi @TechScafflod,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
Hanging on the Windows logo during a "Working on updates" restart is often linked to a conflict between the Insider build's storage drivers and your HP desktop's default.
Press Escape at boot, go into BIOS Setup, and change Configuration -> SATA Emulation from RAID to AHCI. Press Escape at boot again, then press F11 for system recovery. After reinstalling Windows, the PC always boots into Windows 11 with an HP logo and not the problematic blue Windows logo.
1. Hold the power button for 5 seconds to make it turn off;
2. Press the power button, then immediately press Escape for the startup menu.
3. Press either F1 for System Information or F10 for BIOS Setup;
4. Exit and continue to Windows 11.
Force Windows into the Recovery Environment (WinRE)
- Turn the PC on and wait for the Windows or manufacturer logo.
- As soon as it appears, press and hold the power button until the PC shuts off.
- Repeat this power‑on → force‑off cycle three times.
- On the third start, Windows should display Preparing Automatic Repair and then Automatic Repair.
- Select Advanced options to enter WinRE.
Try startup repair.
- In WinRE, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Choose the Windows installation and let the tool run.
- When it finishes, restart and see if Windows boots normally.
Use System Restore to roll back the update. If Startup Repair does not help:
- Go back to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
- Select a restore point dated before last night’s Windows Update.
- Complete the wizard and let the PC restart.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

Hi @TechScafflod,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand you’re trying to enroll in the Windows Beta program, but based on the behavior you described (blue/glitched screen during update and repeated restart failures), this indicates a compatibility or stability issue with the system and the beta build.
Important to know
- Beta / Insider builds are not officially supported by HP
- These versions are experimental and may:
- Cause display issues (like the glitch you’re seeing)
- Fail during installation
- Does not work properly with HP drivers or BIOS
System requirements (for Beta builds)
To run beta versions properly, your system must have:
- Fully updated BIOS
- Latest graphics drivers (Intel/AMD/NVIDIA)
- Compatible hardware supported by Microsoft Insider builds
👉 Even if your system meets requirements, driver compatibility is not guaranteed
Why is this happening
- The glitch screen you see is likely due to:
- Graphics driver incompatibility
- Or the firmware does not support that beta build
What we recommend
- Continue using the stable version of Windows (recommended for reliability)
- Keep your system updated via:
- Windows Update
- HP Support Assistant
If you still want to try Beta (not recommended)
- Make sure:
- BIOS is fully updated
- Graphics drivers are updated from the HP website
- Be aware:
- Installation may still fail
- System instability can occur
Final note
This is not a hardware fault; your system is working as designed, but beta builds are not fully compatible or supported on all HP systems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

So why doesnt HP just provide us good latest driver my a-z PC is up to date just i cant enroll and first time i have seen this Issue on my PC like previously i was using another PC but on this PC only i am seeing this means overall i cant enroll in beta

Hi @TechScafflod,
To clarify, the issue you’re facing with enrolling on the Windows Beta / Insider program is not necessarily due to missing or outdated drivers on your HP PC.
Why is this happening
- Beta (Insider) builds are experimental
- HP systems are fully tested and supported only on stable Windows releases
- For beta builds:
- Drivers may not be fully compatible
- Certain hardware (especially graphics/firmware) may cause installation failures or glitches
- This can vary from one PC to another—even between two HP systems
About drivers
HP provides drivers that are:
- Stable and tested
- Optimized for official Windows versions
👉 Beta versions are released by Microsoft before final testing, so:
- HP cannot always provide updated drivers specifically for those builds
- Some features (like enrollment or updates) may fail due to compatibility limitations
