Hello, I recently wanted to reinstall my HP 255 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC (78U76AV) because I couldn't get a Windows bug fixed.
Installation was carried out using a USB stick from Microsoft with Windows 11 Pro generated by the media creation tool.

The beginning was normal, the hard drive and partitions were deleted, but then Windows wanted to connect to the Internet after some standard input and looked for a driver. Without it I couldn't continue. I then started searching for the HP WLAN driver, but Microsoft didn't want to recognize it. No driver found.

And without that we can't go any further. So I had to cancel the whole thing, and luckily I had a backup to reinstall the old installation.

This is very strange and I have never experienced anything like this before.

Is there a solution from HP or is this a Windows problem?

Kind regards, U.B.

@bix,

See this link for how to bypass the internet connection requirement during the Windows 11 initial setup. This workaround lets you use a local account to finish up the setup if W11 can't install a WiFi driver on your notebook.

Go to your HP support home page and download a WiFi driver to a usb drive and install it on your notebook from the usb drive. You can now switch to a Microsoft account if you wish.
