When my notebook blanks screen, after twenty minutes or so being idle, I cannot use it anymore. I must hold on power button and restart.
Note that I run Ubuntu Linux as dual boot, and it's not affected.
I noticed I have this issue since 24H2 update. Nothing managed to fix this issue ever since.

Hi @zepp-fr,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the screen blanking issue on the HP Pavilion 15-bc403nf!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Update BIOS and Drivers
Ensure that your BIOS and drivers are up-to-date. Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause compatibility issues after an update.
Update BIOS:
- Reboot the computer and press f10 to enter BIOS setup.
- Navigate to the BIOS update section and follow the on-screen instructions to update.
Update Drivers:
- Open the Windows Device Manager.
- Locate each device category, right-click and select “Update driver.”
- Alternatively, use the HP Support Assistant to automatically find and install updates for your computer.
2. Check Power Settings
Adjust the power settings to ensure the computer does not enter a problematic sleep state.
- Press Windows + X and select Power Options.
- Change the plan settings for your active power plan.
- Set Turn off the display and Put the computer to sleep to longer durations or Never.
3. Perform a Hard Reset
Performing a hard reset can sometimes resolve temporary hardware and software issues.
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter and turn on the computer.
4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check for hardware issues.
- Turn on or restart the computer, quickly press the esc key, and then press f2.
- Run System Tests and Component Tests to check the computer hardware.
5. Adjust Display Sleep Settings
Make sure to adjust the display sleep settings to prevent the issue.
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Ensure that the screen sleep settings are configured properly.
I hope this helps.
