HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

So, basically almost every time that I use my pc I have this problem. Sometimes I do have Windows 11 pop-ups with recommendations/finalisation of the installation (eg. use Edge, use 365, etc.) and I think that these should be pretty normal. But every other day I use my pc I have also the same layout of these pop-ups that shows up randomly for about 2 to 3 seconds (with a charging icon) and then it disappears, interrupting my session and producing also the strange sound that I explained in my first post here. After it disappears, all the icons in the application bar are rebooted. Sometimes in this situation I also had the file explorer crushing and closing but now apparently it's no more the case.

Maybe some malware in my pc?

Thanks

Hi @Mich968,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP 15.6-inch laptop running Windows 11 could be caused by several factors, including potential malware, software conflicts, or system issues. Here’s a step-by-step approach to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.

Run a Full System Scan for Malware

  • Windows Security: Open Windows Security, go to "Virus & threat protection," and run a full scan.
  • Third-Party Antivirus: If you have third-party antivirus software, run a comprehensive scan.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Update Windows: Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is up to date. Install any pending updates.

Uninstall Unnecessary Software

  • Remove Bloatware: Uninstall any pre-installed software you don't need. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features and remove unnecessary applications.
  • Check Startup Programs: Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to disable unnecessary startup programs that might be causing conflicts.

Check for Corrupted System Files

  • System File Checker (SFC): Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow. This will scan and attempt to repair any corrupted system files.
  • DISM Tool: If SFC finds issues it cannot fix, use the Deployment Imaging Service and Management Tool (DISM) by running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.

Review Event Viewer

  • Event Viewer: Open Event Viewer by typing "Event Viewer" in the search bar. Check the logs under "Windows Logs" > "Application" and "System" for any errors or warnings that coincide with the pop-ups and system interruptions.

Reset Your Browser

  • Edge Browser: If the pop-ups are related to Edge, reset it to default settings. Go to Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values.

Check for Background Processes

  • Task Manager: Check Task Manager to see if any unusual processes are running when the issue occurs. Look for processes with high CPU or memory usage that you do not recognize.

Perform a Clean Boot

  • Clean Boot: To identify if a background application is causing the issue, perform a clean boot. In the System Configuration (msconfig), disable all startup items and non-Microsoft services, then restart your PC. If the problem does not occur, re-enable the services and startup items one by one to identify the culprit.

Review Installed Updates

  • Uninstall Recent Updates: If the problem started after a recent Windows update, consider uninstalling the update to see if the issue resolves. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.

System Restore

  • Restore Point: If the issue persists, consider restoring your system to a point before the problem started. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection > System Restore.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
