Windows 7 64bit on my HP Notebook - 15-da0072na

Hi,

I would like to be able to install Win 7 Pro 64bit on my above laptop, but having the 'A required cd/dvd drive device is missing.....'

I'm trying to install on a fresh ssd. I disable 'Secure Boot' and enable 'Legacy support' and enter the four digit code confirming the change. On start up I go to F9 and find my usb flash drive which I have win 7 pro installed on. It starts up and loads but then I hit the problem with the driver device.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Peter:

Unfortunately, you cannot install or run W7 on that model notebook.

There are no W7 USB 3.1 drivers which the W7 installation media is looking for to continue installing.

That is the reason you are getting the required device driver is missing error.

If your notebook had an internal DVD drive, you could have gotten W7 to install, but then you would have hit a brick wall with there being no USB 3.1 or graphics drivers, and while there are W7 wifi drivers, the wifi adapter doesn't work on W7 unless you remove it and mask a couple of contacts.

The last Intel platform that could run W7 in all respects were notebooks with the Intel 6th gen Skylake processors.

You're very welcome.

Just make sure it doesn't have USB 3.1 ports.  There are a few models out there that do.

You want one with USB 3 ports which have W7 drivers.
