I have a new computer with windows 10 loaded. I have loaded Windows 7 via a DVD with ISO (booted by DVD). Drivers are missing and I can't gain access to internet (network driver missing too). I have the network Controller Details below as I noticed that the driver can be found using this in another quesiton on this form (Paul_Tikkanen). Can you please assist with mine? Once I gain access to the internet I am assuming the computer will find the other appropriate drivers?

Hi:
Unfortunately, even though there is a W7 driver for the Intel 3168 AC wifi adapter, it will not work on W7.
The radio remains off and no one knows how to turn it on.
You can see this discussion below. If you want to use the internal wifi adapter, you will have to install W10.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the response. So the wifi adapter won't work, what about attaching a cable and hard wiring internet? Am I out of luck there too? If so what are my options for getting windows 7 on a computer?

You're very welcome.
Here is the W7 ethernet driver you need...
Download, unzip and run the setup application from the W7 driver at the link below...
What model processor and graphics does your notebook come with?
There are no specs to look up.

OK, thanks.
Due to Microsoft's announcing no W7 support for any platform with the Intel Kaby Lake chipsets or newer, the hardware component manufacturers are not developing drivers for those platforms, except for W10.
However there are some tips and tricks to beat the system as it were.
Read this discussion below (see Bruce BTS's post) on how to modify the W10 Intel graphics driver to work on W7.
You can probably use the very same driver he modded in the discussion.
I am optimistic that we can get everything to work on W7 for you, except for that doggone wifi adapter.
You're going to have to buy an external USB wifi adapter.
So, before you do the graphics driver mod, install the Intel chipset installation utility and restart the PC.
The 2nd file down on the left side of the page is the auto install file.
Fortunately, the Skylake USB3 driver also works on the Kaby Lake platforms...
Download, unzip and run the setup application from the driver at the link below...
Audio driver: Accept the agreement. Download and install the 2nd driver on the list and restart the PC:
SD card reader: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the 1st driver listed on the webpage.
You should be able to use the W10 touchpad driver from your notebook's support page, as it also contains the driver files for W7, 8, 8.1 as well.
This package provides the driver that enables the ELAN Touchpad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.

That should get you pretty far down the road to success.
Please post back with any remaining hardware ID's that need drivers.

Thank you Paul,
I have gone through the list and everything worked except the track pad driver. It killed my keyboard/touchpad. Do you have a way to revert back or guidance on how to properly install? It did mention that it wasn't fully supported and could have some functionality issues.
Also do you have a Bluetooth driver you recommend? Almost home, thank you again for your expertise and quick responses!

Hi:
I'm surprised and sorry the touchpad driver didn't work.
Is the Elan touchpad software program listed in the windows control panel>programs section?
If so, uninstall it, and restart the PC.
Since the wifi portion of the 3168 wifi card doesn't work, I don't remember if the bluetooth portion works.
Here is the W7 BT driver for the 3168 wifi card.
You may as well have the wifi driver too, just so the device manager is clean.

Hello Paul,
The WIFI driver installed but as noted isn't supported. The Bluetooth driver ran into the following error:
"The procedure entry point SetDefaultDllDirectories could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll".

Hi:
Then I guess the BT doesn't work either.
Try the W7 HP driver would be the only other suggestion I can offer.
