Can't find the raw drivers, just install packages. Doing a clean install. Right now it is also asking for a missing CD/DVD driver. Windows wants of course drivers, not install packages.

Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?
The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.
Please do not post the serial number.
How are you installing W7? By DVD or USB flash drive?

Yes, thank you for the reply.
The Product # is LW900AAR
And of course, a clean install is being done from a DVD. After the initial boot of the BIOS in which the DVD is made available to the boot device, in this case a DVD, the DVD bercomes unavailable after the Windows OS install takes over. With he DVD no longer available for the install, the OS install insists of course that a CD/DVD driver is missing. I believe this is where the much needed raw drivers for I/O in the form of SATA AHCI, etc. become needed. I cannot not find them on this site. Only install packages, which do not work.

You're very welcome.
I am skeptical that error is due to missing a missing sata driver, but you have absolutely nothing to lose by installing it.
I have zipped up and attached the relevant drivers you need below.
Unzip the folder and copy just the file contents to a USB flash drive.
With the DVD and the flash drive in the PC, boot from the W7 DVD.
When you get to the part where W7 is asking for a driver, select the Load Driver icon (Lower left side of the picture) option as pictured in the screen shot below, browse to the USB location where you copied the sata driver files.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver, cross your fingers and hope you were right.

As I thought it might be, the screen you picture will not appear until the relevant drivers are loaded. Windows cannot see the USB drive that I put the files on, nor can it see any of the drives attached via external usb. Here is a list of the options I see after clicking through the pop-up informing me I have a missing CD/DVD driver.
Drive C: (internal drive installed)
System 😧 (no idea)
Drive E: (internal drive installed)
Recovery F: (of no use)
HP_tools (of no use)
Local Disk H: (no idea)
Boot X:
Thus far the only way I have been able to offer Windows the files it is requesting has been to remove one of the drives and install the files onto it. (A truly painful experience) But none of the files I have downloaded are what Windows is asking for. I will have to again remove a drive to use the files you sent me. Gheesh! One curiosity is the file you attached is 351K. I downloaded the same file name, but with a file size of 456K. Obviously from a different web-page URL. Could you possibly point me to the proper URL files for my machine are found? This has to be the most difficult Windows install I have ever had to do. Usually, I just download the files from a site and they work. I have thus far downloaded 41 files trying to find the drivers. OMG!

Hi:
Did you burn the W7 DVD yourself from an ISO file, or are you using an original Microsoft W7 DVD?
With DVD's, 99% of the time you make the file yourself and get the missing driver error, it is because of one of two things...
An incomplete ISO file download (even though the download reported complete).
A bad burn of the DVD (usually burned at too high of a speed).
Here is the link to the sata drivers I used.
You have to use a free file utility such as 7-zip to extract the drivers out of the exe file.
I know for a fact that they are the right ones for any PC with an Intel series 6 chipset.

thank you Paul for all your input. It has been helpful. The new floppy setup drivers seem to be more correct than the others I have. But as far as the CD\DVD missing driver issue, it was far too stupid simple an issue I found the answer to a this link.
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/67974-63-trying-install-windows-required-driver-missing. Had to do with the external optical drives connection to a USB port. The disk I am using is a burned copy I aquired through my university. But now a new quirk has arrived. The SSD which originally appeared when the CD\DVD issue existed, now doesn't appear in the available drives to use for the install. I'm assuming this is a BIOS update issue maybe??? I'm gonna look for flash bios from an external DVD solutions now. Wheee!
