HP 17-by0174ur (6PR59EA)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, my dear friends!

Just bought HP 17-by0174ur (6PR59EA) and installed Windows 7. I found all of drivers and all of them works fine.

After that I installed HP Support Assistant which told me update BIOS. The BIOS update was successful but after that Windows 7 not started with error:

BSOD - 0x000000A5: ACPI_BIOS_ERROR

Now I want to recover BIOS but I can't find firmware on hp.com. What can I do with this or where I can find the firmware? Google can't help me with this.

Or how can I find a chipset model do download BIOS firmware from vendor site?

With regards to the BIOS issues:

General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not a solution.

Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong.

Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

Hope this helps. Good luck !

As we saying "If it works, do not touch!"
Hello!
I'm glad to get a reply for my problem. All of You saying is true and I know it. This is all about HP Support Assistant recommendation and I shouldn't have to accept it.
Thank You for all of Your advices. To be honest, I found the same firmware You found after I started topic and already tried to recover BIOS but had no success.
The problem with this firmware (with USB recovery drive) is when I press Win+B and power on button, a display is blinking and after that I have very loud unstoppable beep with black screen. Seems like something is going wrong 'cause when I do same things with firmware which HP Assistant was provide me first time, all is fine:
Writting new BIOS Image went fine
Checking went fine
BUT! after several reboots I see the message about "A system bios recovery has occurred error 500"
So what do I have at this moment:
1. Seems like the new BIOS firmware has the ACPI in disabled mode and I can't change this (There are no option in the BIOS settings to turn it on. It's locked by HP). There is no unlocked firmware for this laptop.
2. I have a Windows 10 installed on this laptop, so I think to use HP Support Assistant again to try to update the BIOS firmware. :)))
3. Thinking about resetting the CMOS. Not sure about it.
4. Just let it be..

The reason I need to setup a Windows 7 on this laptop is because of my granny have the Windows 7 laptop (which need to be replaced) and Win10 will be a big problem for her.

A few words about warranty. I'm not sure the laptop have an official warranty because there is no warranty card in the box. The only way is to give it back to the shop for repairing. But I have no good reason to do this. The instruction say "The Windows7/8 not supported".
