Hi all,
I have installed Windows 7 x64 (DVD) on my 17-g185nf laptop and downloaded all the correct drivers from HP. However, when I try to install them they won't install. I have no LAN/WLAN, USB, graphics etc.
I started with the chipset no joy, every other driver appears to install but nothing changes.
I have had a couple of error messages -
- Kernel-mode driver frame work not installed (KB 2685811) - I downloaded and installed it.
- several "This platform is not supported " errors.
What am I doing wrong?
I know the laptop supports Win7...
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm pulling my hair out...

Hi:
Your model has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics, and I don't see the AMD graphics adapter listed on the support page.
See if these drivers work...
Chipset. 2nd file down on the left side of the page is the auto install file. Restart the PC after installing the driver.
Graphics:
Intel: 1st one at the top left
AMD: Scroll down the page, and select the W7 x64 Radeon graphics driver.
USB3: Download, unzip and run the setup application...
Ethernet: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the W7 driver at the link below.
SD card reader: Download, unzip and run the setup application from the 1st driver listed at the link below...
I don't know what model wifi adapter your notebook comes with, so please post the hardware ID for the device you see listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Thanks, I'll give that a go...
When you say "Chipset. 2nd file down on the left side of the page is the auto install file. Restart the PC after installing the driver." Do you mean "Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver" or "Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver_SKL"?

You're very welcome.
I mean the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver...the one directly from Intel.
I don't see any reference to an Intel Management Engine Interface driver on the page.
It's the same file, zip or exe.

Right, I've downloaded and installed the drivers you suggested. I now have Intel graphics but that's it - none of the other drivers have installed so I still have no USB/WLAN/Ethernet etc...
Can you think of anything else I could try?

Hi:
You will have to post the hardware ID's for the devices that need drivers, so I can see why the drivers I gave you didn't work...because they should have.
Use the guide I posted above for how to find that information.

OK...
See if these drivers work for you...
USB:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81001-81500/sp81158.exe
Network Controller:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72879.exe
Bluetooth (the wifi card your model has comes with bluetooth):
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72617.exe
Ethernet:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp91001-91500/sp91410.exe
PCI E/D Controller:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/sp71264.exe
PCI Data Acquisition...
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/sp71262.exe
HPQ 6001...there is no W7 driver for that, and it shouldn't even be showing up as needing a driver. That is for the HP wireless button only used in W8 and newer and the W8 driver doesn't work.
HPQ 6007:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78105.exe
MSFT0101...should be installed by windows update by right clicking on the device, driver tab>update driver>auto search.
Otherwise try the driver I zipped up and attached below.
INT33FF...no W7 driver for that device. Try the W8.1 driver...
