Hello,
I have an old pavilion dv6-2040el and I had to change the hard drive because the original one was dead with no possibility to access it. I need to download a Windows 7 home premium OA but I can not find a way to do it on HP web site.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
- Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Echo_Lake thanks for the feedback. I was trying to follow your tip but I read that the tool can be used only for laptop manufactured in 2016 and later. Since my laptop has been manufactured before this date (I purchased it in 2009), I tried to understand if my laptop was supported or not following the link and inserting the product ID but the answer is "Not available - Please con tact HP support". Do you think I can use the recovery tool anyway?
Thanks a lot

Thank you for posting back.
As you've mentioned your computer was purchased before 2016 the recovery tool will not let you create the recovery media.
I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
