I bought my laptop preinstalled with Windows 8.1. It got upgraded to windows 10 and the hardware is not up to the mark to work with Windows 10.
As the grace period is over for reverting to Windows 8.1, I am trying to install Windows 8.1 Single language edition from Microsoft website. But the setup is unable to detect the OEM key and asking for the same.
I tried to input the key fetched using Belarc, but still the setup is saying it is in valid or this key is not for this version of Windows
According to Belarc report the preinstalled windows version is >> Microsoft - Windows 8.1 Connected Single Language (prior license)
and showkey plus shows it as Windows 8.1 RTM CoreConnectSingleLanguage OEM:DM
I tried Windows 8.1 Single Language 64 Bit( Both English and International English). Could you please guide me on this ?

Hi:
The Windows 8.1 RTM CoreConnectSingleLanguage OEM:DM version is for W8.1 with Bing, for which Microsoft has no downloads.
You would have to contact HP in India and see if they have recovery media for sale for your notebook.
Otherwise you will have to reinstall W10 and live with its shortcomings.

Hi Paul,
Do the solution mentioned by you in https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-8-return/m-p/6949583#M5... works for me now ?
