Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

System was already upgraded to Windows 10.

I got a crash and had to recover windows 8 I used my 2 recovery DVD's which I made at the installation when I bought the laptop with my external (usb) dvd drive cause the laptop has no internal dvd drive. At the end of the recovery procedure the system showed: recovery failed. I restarted the system, could'nt come in to the bios, cause the pop up screen of the recovery manager is coming back again. When I choose the option restart the recovery, then the system replyed "put in the recovery media" , the dvd is in the drive, but nothing happens.

Question: what is the best way to solve this problem?

Hi,

As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade from 8.1, you can just perform a clean installation of 10 as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed.

Hi David,

Thank you for your tip. Now i am downloading windows 10 iso and will create installation media.

I still have a quaestion about my laptop. How can I get rid of the pop up screen from the recovery manager. I assume that when I re-install Win 10 I must reboot from DVD, but in this state the laptop will not boot from DVD.

Regards,

Anton

Hi,

You're welcome :generic:

Insert the Windows 10 installation disc and Shutdown the notebook.

Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to highlight the CDROM option and hit enter - if prompted to 'Press any key to continue....' - do so.

Hi David,

That's the point, when i press f9 (after esc) then i do'nt get the bootmenu,  the HP-logo apears and the system returns back to the pop-up of the recovery manager.

Is there a file on the disc i must remove?

Anton
