This started after a Windows Update. The notebook started booting and then I got a scrambled screen. I entered the HP recovery and it said that one of the files needed to be repaired (windows\system32\winload.efi) and error code: 0xc0000225. When I pressed the Enter, F1 or F8 keys, it brings me back to this screen. It took me several tries to realize the scrambled screen should be the WinRE screen. Is there any way to get to DOS without going through Windows? This has become very frustrating. I downloaded the ISO file from the Microsoft site and made a bootable USB and a bootable CD/DVD. I have tried booting from the USB and DVD with the same result. When I have tried to boot from the hard drive, the computer says that there is no boot device. I have also reset the BIOS to the default settings, hoping that would work but it did not. The picture of the left is the picture of the screen when it should be showing the WinRE options.

Hi:
Your PC is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...you will need to have access to another PC running Windows 7 64 bit or newer and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

Now for some reason, I have read from other posts, you don't get the scrambled screen like when you try the plain W10 installation media.
You will lose all data currently installed on the hard drive by using the factory recovery media.
