In Windows Update, the firmware version "HP Inc. - Firmware - 1.28.0.0" is offered under optional updates. On the HP support website, "only" the version "HP Inc. - Firmware - 1.27.0.0" is offered. Can the version "HP Inc. - Firmware - 1.28.0.0" be safely installed via Windows Update?
Thanks and best regards
Andreas

My machine is also an HP 840 G5, I only have up to 1.27
And my Update is up to date (I set it up to update everything automatically). You can update now or later, it is up to you.

Many thanks @Banhien
Yes, it looks similar for me in the update history under driver updates.
In my case, version 1.28.0.0 is also offered in Windows Update under optional updates. Hence my question as to whether this version 1.28.0.0 can be safely installed via Windows Update.

I have noticed that HP pushes the BIOS updates to Windows update first, before uploading them to the support page.
You will probably see the new version show up on the EliteBook 840 G5 support page in a couple of weeks.
The one thing I don't like about this is I prefer to see the BIOS update release notes that you can read on the support page that are not available when you get the update from Microsoft.
As Banhien indicated, you can install it now or wait until it appears on your notebook's support page.
I don't know if your notebook has a setting in the BIOS to not receive BIOS updates from Windows update.
Some PC's do.
