HP 250 G3 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Sir/Ma'am,

A month ago I upgraded my notebook laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 but after some days I observed it was not only working slow but it asked for activation product key, so I prefer to downgrade back to windows 8.1 when started process it asked for windows activation key again, but I nowhere find the key, I had bought this laptop with genuine pre-installed windows 8.1.

Please help me out where I can get product activation key.

Waiting for your response..

The W8.1 OEM product key is in your notebook's BIOS.

Install the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft Store and it will show you the OEM Windows key and the version of Windows the key is good for.

You're very welcome.

Does the version of Windows 8.1 that you installed match the version of Windows the OEM product key indicates?

For example:  W8.1, W8.1 single language, etc...

Sorry Sir for responding late,

Sir actually I don't have clear idea which edition of windows 8.1 was OEM. Now I tried key two of them one is 8.1 pro and 8.1 single language but both of them did not accept the key.

Don't know whether if it was one of the two remaining editions which I don't try.

Sir, Is their any way to know the windows 8.1 OEM edition..

Please post the Showkey Plus report description of the Windows 8.1 version for your notebook.

This is what mine indicates:

OEM Edition: Win 8.1 RTM Professional OEM:DM

OK:

Here's the problem and unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it.

Microsoft never offered Windows 8.1 Single Language with Bing (core connected) for download.

You would have to find HP recovery media for that exact operating system from someplace and where you could do that, I have no idea.

Did you ever upgrade to W10 on your notebook previously?

If so then I do have a solution for you.

A moderator removed your screenshot.

In order to reinstall Windows 10, it had to have been activated on the notebook previously.

If you upgraded to W10 after September of 2023, Microsoft closed the loophole that allowed for free upgrades beyond the July 2016 free upgrade period, last September.

You may want to consider installing Ubuntu/Linux on your notebook rather than buying a Windows license, and you can't even get Windows 8.1 from Microsoft anymore.
