Hey Guys, so, I have read so many of you guyss questions and answers for  awhile now because my PC stopped working; however this is the first time posting a question myself. I just felt like maybe if I am very specific about the model of PC , the specific driver versions, the operating system, etc I could get somewhere.... so here it goes....

One day, (VERY randomly) out of nowhere  my pc (HP 15bs289wm) screen just froze... So, I wait a while and it never began playing so I pressed and held the power button in order to restart it.... Once the computer came back on, it would only boot to a black screen basically saying "no boot driver found. Smart check drive" something like that... So after several attempts I decided to factory reset it. I created a bootable USB with windows 11 on it (which is the system it had when the issue occured).

I tried and tried and tried and several little things just kept me from completing the installation all the way through.... So, I feel like this is the closest I've come and also Ive become very irritated w this; so, if anyone could help me, u have no idea how grateful I would be and how happy that would make me. So, I have a USB with windows 11 , and I have another USB with some drivers specifically for the model of my PC, first the disk drives wouldn't even show up at all but now it shows them but it says I'm not able to install windows on any drive bcus the disk will fail soon.... And so.... after that , I have no other option because it won't let me create a new partition or format the current one... My only option is to select turn off PC or to go back and at that point it gets stuck with a msg saying "cleaning installations files this may take several minutes" and then it just stays stuck on that screen. PLEASE can SOMEONE HELP thank you so much

Hi @BigBencho69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check the Drive Format

  • Convert Drive to GPT:
    • If the drive is using MBR, convert it to GPT. Open Command Prompt during the Windows installation process (press Shift + F10).
    • Enter diskpart and press Enter.
    • Type list disk and press Enter.
    • Select the disk where you want to install Windows (e.g., select disk 0).
    • Type clean and press Enter (this will remove all partitions).
    • Convert the disk to GPT by typing convert gpt and pressing Enter.

Partition Settings

  • During Windows installation, delete all partitions on the drive.
  • Create a new partition using the unallocated space.

Check for Drive Health

  • Run Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Turn off the laptop and turn it back on.
    • Immediately press Esc repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu, then press F2 for System Diagnostics.
    • Run a test on the hard drive to check for issues.

BIOS Settings

  1. Turn off the laptop and turn it back on.
  2. Immediately press Esc repeatedly.
  3. Press F10 to access the BIOS Setup Utility.

Configure Settings:

  • Enable UEFI mode if the drive is GPT.
  • Disable Secure Boot if it prevents installation from proceeding.

Installation Media

  • Create Bootable USB:
    • Use the Windows Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB drive with the correct version of Windows.
    • Official Microsoft tool: Windows Media Creation Tool

Driver Issues

  • Load Storage Drivers:
    • During Windows setup, if prompted, load the storage drivers from a USB drive.

I hope this helps.
