HP Pavilion DV6707 (DV6000)
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Oh man, where should I start.

So recently I had gone on a trip after my Grandfather passed away. He left a lot of things, one of them being this Laptop/Notbook. So decided to keep it an do some work on it. After bringing it home I wiped all the data on the main partition (Main Disk).

My plan was to wipe the disk then Install the newest version of Windows. (The Notebook was previously running Windows Vista). So I Updated it to Windows 10 Pro. Everything was going just fine. I had updated the Drivers and had it running fairly smoothly. So I called it a day and shut it down. When I tried booting it back up in the morning, it said it could not find and operating system. I found this quite odd. So I booted the BIOS up to check it out and yet everything seemed just fine. But the Notebook would not boot up.

So I put the USB back in, with Windows 10, and planned to format the drive and reinstall windows. But when I got to the 'Where do you want to install Windows' screen. It gave me this error messege.

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The Computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu."

At this point im thinking 'Okay simple fix. Go into the BIOS and enable the disk controller and BOOM done.'

I was mistaken in that statment. I went to the BIOS menu and I could not find a "Disk Controller" of ANY kind. When I tried looking for "walkthroughs" or "guides" online, they always said "go to the Advanced settings in BIOS." I was Confused by this because In my BIOS, I o not have a Avanced settings tab.

In Short, I need to enable the "Disk Controller" to be able to reinstall windows. Any help with this woul be greatly appreciated I have been working on this laptop for weeks with no luck.

Thank you. -Voli

The HP Pavilion DV6707 is an old Notebook and HP has not tested or developed Windows 10 drivers for your computer model. Some features might not work, or the installation might not be successful.
