Laptop was scheduled for an update last night. when i woke up this morning the update had taken place but now my mouse and keyboard don't work. the touchscreen works fine ans i can access remotely through my phone. I already went and tried updating the keyboard and mouse drivers and it said i already had the best drivers. i disabled and re-enabled and that didnt do anything either. I'm in HP support Assistant right now looking for other ideas, but dont know what to do next! Any suggestions?!

Hello @2talll
Mouse and keyboard drivers (especially keyboard drivers) are rarely updated. Keyboard drivers are part of the operating system - usually generic ones. Your issue cannot be fixed by updating the drivers - I suspect the updates contain bugs (issues) or there is something else incompatible with them yet. Therefore, i recommend you uninstall them temporary and wait for better times (try again after about a month).
If you mean that you were scheduled for installing Windows Updates:
- If you had received normal updates (not a bi-yearly feature update), please go to Control Panel -> Programs and features
- Click on View installed updates
- Filter the updates per date by clicking on Installed on
- Select the updates installed recently (like today/yesterday) and choose to UNINSTALL them
Eventually, make sure that you *restart* your Windows 10 computer.
If this fixes your issue, use this Microsoft tool to temporary hide these faulty updates to prevent Windows from automatically installing them >> https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3183922/how-to-temporarily-prevent-a-windows-update-from-re...
If you mean you have been scheduled for other updates - please, clarify what was it
Let me know what you did and if the above fixes your issues 🙂

When I googled and found a youtube video for fixing the problem before you replied, I tried updating the drivers manually and found TWO drivers for the keyboard and when I switched from the one listed to the other one, it worked fine after the restart. For the mouse there were several drivers listed, but only one actually worked (the others said it could not update). However, when I restarted I got an error that windows defender could not verify the driver. I skipped it, figuring I'd have to try again but after the restart finished, the mouse was working fine again. So it took over two hours, but I now have a working mouse and keyboard.
