All of a sudden this laptop cannot connect to the network. I get the error message "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver.
Of course I cannot get online to download a driver.
Used a different laptop to do so. When I copied it over to the HP, I got another error about VC10 file missing (I didn't keep the error message, sorry).
1. What could have happened?
2. How do I fix this?
Thank you

As I wrote in my original post:

I realize that this is likely a Windows issue, not an HP problem, so am in contact with Microsoft about it now.
