Hello

I created the usb flash drive from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. For some reason it'cant boot the computer from this flash drive.  It boots my other computers fine. I've set the boot order to have usb disk first.

Thanks

Hi:

See if this works...

Have the USB flash drive in the PC.

Turn it on or restart it.

Immediately start pressing the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive with the W10 installation files on it, and press the Enter key.

Hello

F9 doesn't give me any usb option. I have to go to F10 and change the boot order to usb key. I'vIfe disabled secure boot , tried legacy mode and all kinds of combinations. It will not boot from this drive or a different flash drive I tried. The flash drives boot my other computers fine. I've used the windows media creation tool and rufus with complete failure. I don't know what to try next. If I can't figure this out I don't know how I'll ever reinstall windows.

Thanks

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know either.

The notebook should show a boot options menu when selecting F9 from the menu.

Did you try going into the BIOS, enabling legacy mode and disabling secure boot and see if you can boot from any of the legacy boot sources when selecting the F9 boot options menu?

See this link for the settings to change.

Hello

It does show a boot option list it just doesn't show any usb flash drives. I've tried turning off secure boot and turning on legacy mode but nothing works. The laptop will boot with my Image for Linux imaging program. It boots instantly off that.

I've made boot media with the Media Creation Tool and with Rufus. They boot on everything but this HP laptop.

Thanks for trying to figure this out.
