HP probook 6475b. Windows 10 updates on Friday & now my laptop boots up with ‘automatic repair’. Then it tells me it can’t repair my pc, so sends me to advanced options. Won’t let me reset the pc (there was a problem resetting your pc), won’t let me uninstall updates (we ran into a problem and won’t be able to uninstall .....), tried a system restore (error 0x80070017). Even tried removing the battery and starting again - no change. Any suggestions???

I hate to pass along bad news, but when Windows Update gets corrupted, there is very little chance of recovering the PC.
There is is long, very difficult process you can try -- but if this does not work, then you're faced with a clean reinstall which will erase everything you have.
These problems were reported with KB4532693 back in February of 2020, and more recently, with KB4556799. Unfortunately, this is NOT a new issue with Win10 Windows Updates.
First thing you need to do is see if you can restart in Safe mode -- by doing these steps: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2304-boot-into-safe-mode-windows-10-a.html
If you don't know how to start using Advanced Startup Options, then read this: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-boot-advanced-startup-options-windows-10-a.html
Then, follow these steps to reset Windows Update: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/24742-reset-windows-update-windows-10-a.html
If these work, when you finally reboot, you should then be able to login to a working Windows desktop.

Plan B, as I already mentioned, is a clean reinstall in which you lose everything.
If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.
The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
