I had installed a newly purchased hard drive and installed a new purchased windows 11 home onto my Pavilion. When I installed the new OS and completed the updates, I have noticed I lost my "fingerprint reader" that worked when I first bought the computer. I installed the HP Driver and windows doesn't recognize the hardware. Is this a feature loss or am I needing an updated driver?

It's unfortunate you paid for W11 since you can get a free upgrade to it from Windows 10.
If your notebook has a fingerprint reader and it is not working, I recommend that you use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will install Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with our notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Then you can upgrade back to W11.

I tried using the built in HP assistant that let me download a new image free of Windows 11 I couldnt create a USB boot image with the download though because I had lost admin privilage through a backdoor problem.
