You need to install the driver manually.
Extract the exe file using winrar.(open with winrar and click on extract)
Goto start and search device manager and open device manager and find and select update driver.
Select brows my computer option
Select browse and locate graphics folder under extracted driver folder.
Now wait for installation.
I want to make sure that your led is not defective
Connect external monitor (use hdmi)
And check the second display.
Good luck

Yes, you need to install the graphics driver from HP.
Type winver in the Cortana search bar and choose it from the list.
See what version of Windows you have.
If you have Windows version 1703, then install this driver...
If you have an ealier version, use this one...
Also reset the graphics color settings to default.
- Right-click on the desktop
- Choose Graphics Properties (or choose Graphics Options), and then Graphics Properties...
- Click on the Color Correction button (or click on the Color tab).
- Click Restore defaults.
If neither of these thing work and its brand new and doing it right out of the box, have the store exchange it for another one that works. That will be faster than doing a warranty issue.
