I am on my second ZBook Firefly 14 G9 business in under 6 months. The first had a battery failure error and was replaced two weeks ago and now this one has a battery failure with error 6BWKVV-BRXC5X-MFGJXG-C0AV23.
Seems to unlikely to be a co-incidence so is there a generic or a batch issue within HP, my drivers and BIOS are bang up to date

I believe that is NOT due to the battery itself. HP support replaced battery on my ZBook Firefly 14 G10 last month (June 2024). One week later, the problem came back. After many WhatsApp sessions, now I'm waiting for another replacement which is scheduled sometimes next week (from July 15th).
Please report it to HP support in your country to have another look at your machine.
Regards.

This 2nd battery failure issue was on a complete replacement G9 laptop for the original ZBook Firefly 14 G9 battery fault which internal IT sent. They will ship the original back to HP Inc as it had a 3 Year warranty about 6 months in, I only had it at the start of the year.
Both have a faint bakelite type acrid smell when in operation, I don't leave them unattended for any length of time in case there's an overheating issue.
I am ex-Compaq, this smacks of a batch or generic issue to me.

The internal IT department handles all hardware faults and replacement laptops so I never get direct access to HP Inc support root cause diagnosis.
However I have to switch the ZBook Firefly 14 G9 off and unplug at night in case there a fire risk and I can tell you there's a horrible faint acrid odour when this one and the previous one is switched on and running so there's definitely something wrong and potentially an issue deep around the motherboard or battery installation.
The power adapter is not unduly warm when in operation but the smell (a bit like soldering on bakelite) simply isn't right and as an IT veteran of Compaq, HP and HPE I can definitely say the hardware needs an investigation.
Two G9s with the same issue is no co-incidence in my books.
