I am working on a used laptop that my sister just purchased, she bought this for my nephew. I have been cleaning it up. My problem is though when I boot this puter up it asks for a Administrator or Power Up Password, I do have it but can you tell me how to remove this from bootup? Would really be appreciated.
One more thing I thought I had all the previous owners name taken out (which was something no 10 year old should have to see) but every once in awhile this name comes up. How do I completely remove that name please.
Is there anyway to make this puter start up any quicker? Not sure of the age of it. Sister purchased it and she doesn't know much about puters. Just wish she would have asked me first about it.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You can remove the need for a power on password as follows.
Shutdown the notebook.
Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up menu and then select f10 to enter the Bios menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Security tab and hit enter. Use the arrow keys again to highlight power on password and hit enter. Enter the current password and then for the new password, just leave this blank and hit enter - do the same for the confirmation field. Press f10, select to save the new settings and hit enter.
Regarding the old username, it may be best to create a new Admin account for your sister and then delete the old profile - Note: Make sure that the new account does have admin status before deleting the old admin profile.
See the guide on the following link to create a new account ( At image 3, select Administrator ).

Hi,
Restart the notebook and log-on to the new Admin account created for your nephew - you should then be able to remove the old profiles as detailed in the link below ( choose the 2nd option 'My computer is in a workgroup' ).

Thank you again for your help but no its not there. Its just attached to his name like say his name is Anton this is what it looks like Anton/verna except verna is not the correct name there its a bad name that I don't want to repeat. This is where I go to see the name Configure advanced user profile properties then User Profiles I dont want to leave it there this child is only 10 or 12 and should not see that.

Hi,
First thing I'd suggest is to see if the unwanted name is due to it being listed as the registered owner - you can check and change this as shown in the guide below.
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/74737-registered-owner-organization.html
The other thing is to check and change ( if required ) the Name assigned - see the guide below.
