Recently purchase a HP EliteBook 840 G6 PC refurbished thru AMAZON. Upon receipt the system (WINDOWS 10 Pro) would only allow access to a Login Screen for KAISER PERMANENTE. I was unable to get past this issue no matter what system settings I chose, Worked with Amazon support and they could not resolve, The laptop boots & requires WEB access. As soon as I connect to a local website (LIBRARY, Starbucks) the system immediately takes you to a login screen for KAISER PERMANENTE. I found a couple posts on HP Support website of other individuals who purchased refurbed HP Elite 840 G6 laptops with the same problem. I did not see any posts for a resolution. Based on previous posts I believe these refurbished laptops were part of the HP Health Services program that I saw on HP Website. I suspect that these laptops were set up for employees of Kaiser Permanente with restrictions on how the laptop could be used. I suspect a BIOS or ROM issue. I finally returned the laptop as it is unusable in this condition. I still would like to hear if you have a resolution for this problem. Thank You I also found an HP Website promoting their HP ELITEBOOK 840 G6 - HEALTHCARE EDITION. I found other users with the same issue when they purchased a refurbished EliteBook 840 G6.

HP designed that model notebook to be used in a healthcare environment.

I can't think of any reason why the notebook could not have been factory reset by using the HP cloud recovery client utility so that it worked like any other HP business class notebook.

Here's an info link for how to use the utility:

Thank You for the response to my login issue with the refurbished laptop. I was unaware of the HP Cloud Recovery service. I wish the support from the vendor had been useful & responded as if the was an issue that had never happened before. Now that I have the info you provided I will try the process.

You're very welcome.
I always buy off-lease/used/refurbished HP business desktop PC's and notebooks.
Never had a problem getting them set up the way I wanted.
The only used PC's to never buy are ones where the seller indicates the BIOS is password-protected because there is no way to remove the password and HP will not assist in cases like those.
Those PC's can only be used for spare parts.
I will say shame on whoever the Amazon marketplace seller was that did not factory reset the PC's before selling them..
Apparently, the seller bought a bunch of those models from the Kaiser Permanente health care system and sold them 'as is.'
Once you are able to factory reset the PC, it should work just fine.
Many resellers sell the PC's with no hard drives or a blank hard drive and you have to install Windows.
Still not a big problem especially if you can get one for a bargain price.
