OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F1AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop model: HP Omen 15-en1016ur

Current BIOS version: 2.2.8.0

Hello, I have this problem - arbitrary rebooting. Regardless of the task, the laptop would reboot itself, but it does not reboot while I am in any game. I thought the problem was in my OS, so I decided to reinstall it. During the reinstallation of the OS, the laptop also began to restart randomly - which led to difficulties in installing the new OS, and I had already formatted the disk with the old OS.

At some point the laptop stopped seeing any disks at all and booted into the bios with an error - Boot Device Not Found (3F0).

At this point I tried everything - swapping disks, inserting one disk in one slot, then the same disk in another slot, and doing the same with another disk. I checked all the hardware items using the built-in check tool in the bios, all my devices including disks passed the check successfully, but even in the boot menu the disks did not show up. Besides the 3F0 errors, there were errors 500, 501, etc. I tried to update, restart bios and cmos using win + b, v key combination but it either did not work or while doing these procedures the laptop also reboots and the process was crashing. I tried to update the bios from a flash drive, but this also did not lead to anything, as the laptop reboots and the bios is not installed. At some random moment the notebook again began to see disks, and I with difficulty (through constant reboots) was able to install the OS, but even on the desktop, without any tasks the notebook itself reboots, now many times more often than it was before. I tried to install a new version of the bios already from the laptop, but this also failed, I think all the same because the laptop restarts. I tried to install windows 11, also from the desktop OS, but as soon as it comes to the installation start screen the laptop restarts and the next window cancel changes. If you now go into the bios and look at the error log, there are errors 502 and 03f0, what should I do in this situation ?

@Alex7363, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Random Reboots, Boot Device Not Found (3F0), BIOS Update Failure!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like your HP Omen 15-en1016ur is experiencing a critical hardware issue, possibly related to the motherboard, power delivery system, or storage controller. Given the symptoms—random reboots, failure to detect disks, and BIOS update failures—here are a few troubleshooting steps:

1. Basic Power & Connection Checks

  • Use a different power adapter – Ensure your laptop is receiving stable power.
  • Remove any external devices (USB drives, peripherals, etc.) to rule out conflicts.
  • Check RAM modules – Reseat the RAM sticks or try running the laptop with one stick at a time.

2. Deep Hardware Diagnostics

  • Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2 on boot) and check for hardware faults.
  • If your laptop shuts down during diagnostics, it may indicate a power supply issue or overheating.

3. Reset BIOS & CMOS

Since BIOS updates and resets via key combinations (Win + B, V) didn’t work:

  • Manually reset CMOS:
    • Unplug the laptop, remove the battery (if possible), and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
    • Open the back panel, locate the CMOS battery, remove it for 10-15 minutes, and reinstall.
  • Check for overheating: A failing thermal system could trigger reboots. Clean the fans and reapply thermal paste if necessary.

4. Identify if It’s a Storage Controller or Disk Issue

  • Test with a different SSD: Since swapping the SSDs didn’t help, it might be a motherboard-side storage controller issue.
  • Check disk health via another system: If possible, plug your SSD into another computer and check its health using CrystalDiskInfo or a similar tool.

5. Try Installing Windows from Another Method

  • Use Rufus to create a Windows installation USB with a different format (GPT/MBR).
  • Boot into the USB drive (F9 on HP) and attempt to reinstall Windows.
  • If it still restarts during installation, it strongly suggests a hardware issue.

Let me know what tests you've already tried, and I can suggest more advanced steps

Take care, and have an amazing day!
