Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

There are two options for this model:

Backlit keyboard

No backlit keyboard

Open

HP EliteBook 820 G3 Notebook PC, HP EliteBook 828 G3 Notebook PC- Maintenance and Service Guide

Keyboard information - "Hot keys" - Go to Pages 13-14

and

Part Numbers and Country codes >> Go to Page 46

If your keyboard does not have the key for the back light, you do not have a backlit keyboard in your computer.

Example picture of the backlit keyboard for this model - Country code for USA

HP Elitebook 820 G3 Backlit Keyboard 826630-001

In the example, the back light key is F3

You are welcome.

There is nothing to fix -- the f2 and f3 keys are are blank.

This normally means the keys are not assigned.

It might be possible to assign the blank keys.

The "how to" information is certainly available --

Open your browser and search for "assign function keys windows 10" or something similar.

You are welcome.

If you use your computer while it is sitting on your desk (for example, in your home / office),

Consider getting a nice external backlit keyboard.

These are generally connected to your system using a tiny unifier that plugs into your USB port.

Logitech makes (and sells) keyboards and mice that can both use a single unifier.
