Microsoft Windows 11

I just bought a new HP Envy laptop with Windows 11. The battery is draining really quickly...2-3 hours of usage. I've done all the recommended steps in terms of closing background programs, reducing power/screen brightness, etc. Doesn't seem to have much impact, if any.

Hi @David8283,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There could be several reasons why your HP Envy laptop's battery is draining quickly. Here are some steps you can take to try and fix the issue.

  • Check your power settings: Go to your laptop's power settings and make sure that it is set to the power saver mode. Also, make sure that the screen brightness is set to a lower level.
  • Close unnecessary applications: Make sure that you close all unnecessary applications running in the background as they could be draining your battery.
  • Disable unnecessary hardware: Disable any hardware that you are not using such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, as they consume power even when not in use.
  • Check for viruses: Check your laptop for any viruses or malware that could be running in the background and draining your battery.
  • Update your laptop: Make sure that your laptop is up to date with the latest software updates as they often contain bug fixes that can help with battery life.
  • Replace the battery: If none of the above steps work, it may be time to replace the battery. Batteries tend to lose their charge capacity over time and will need to be replaced eventually.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
