@Jayanth77, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Percentage Issue in HP Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP laptop is experiencing issues with the battery percentage not increasing while charging, this could be due to several possible reasons, including software glitches, battery health issues, or charger faults. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check the Charger and Cable: Ensure that the charger and cable are not damaged. Try using a different charger and cable to see if the issue persists.
Check the Charging Port: Inspect the laptop's charging port for any debris or wear that could prevent a good connection.
Reboot the Laptop: Restart your laptop, and see if the percentage updates after the reboot.
Battery Calibration: Sometimes the battery percentage may be incorrectly reported. To recalibrate the battery:
- Disconnect the charger and use the laptop until it shuts down due to a low battery.
- Recharge the battery to 100% without interruption.
- Repeat this process if necessary to recalibrate the percentage reading.
Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure your laptop’s BIOS and battery drivers are up to date. You can download and install the latest updates from the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
Battery Health Check: Use HP Power Manager (available for compatible HP business notebooks) to check the health status of your battery. Consider replacing the battery if it's old or if the health status indicates it’s weak.
Check for Operating System Issues: Ensure the Windows operating system is up to date. Occasionally, a software update might fix bugs related to battery management.
Perform a Battery Test: If possible, run a battery diagnostic test using HP Diagnostics tool to identify potential issues with the battery.
Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the battery for signs of damage or swelling.
Reset the Embedded Controller (EC): On many HP laptops, resetting the EC can help resolve battery and power issues. To do this, perform a power reset:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (only if your laptop allows this step; do not attempt if the battery is built-in).
- Press and hold the power button for around 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on the laptop.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
