Hi @fandlburdine,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Spectre x360 is not functioning without the charger even after it appears to have charged fully, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Battery Calibration: It's possible that the battery isn't accurately calibrated. To recalibrate it, follow these steps:

  • Charge your laptop to 100%.
  • Keep the laptop plugged in for at least two more hours.
  • Unplug the laptop and use it until it completely runs out of battery and shuts down.
  • Plug it back in and allow it to charge to 100% without interruption.

Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure that your laptop isn't set to go into hibernation or sleep mode too quickly. Adjust the settings so that the laptop stays on for an appropriate amount of time when running on battery power.

Battery Health: Use HP's built-in diagnostic tools or software to check the health of your battery. There might be an issue with the battery that needs attention.

Driver Updates: Ensure that your drivers, especially those related to power management and battery, are up-to-date. You can check for driver updates through the Device Manager.

BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop. Sometimes, firmware updates can address power-related issues.

Power Plan Settings: Check your power plan settings in the Windows control panel. Make sure the power plan is set appropriately for battery usage.

Faulty Battery or Charger: If the problem persists, it's possible that either the battery or the charger is faulty.

Reset BIOS/UEFI Settings: In some cases, resetting the BIOS/UEFI settings to default can resolve power-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
