Hi @kingpin300800,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue with your HP Laptop PC 15t potentially not starting up without the AC adapter could be related to several factors, and it’s worth checking a few BIOS settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the BIOS and potentially resolve the issue.

Access BIOS:

  • Restart your laptop and press the Esc or F10 key (depending on your model) repeatedly as soon as the HP logo appears to enter the BIOS menu.

Check Power Settings:

  • Look for a section related to power management. It might be under "Advanced" or "Power" tab.
  • Ensure that "AC Power Recovery" is enabled, which helps the laptop resume power correctly if it was powered off during a power outage.

Inspect Battery Settings:

  • Some BIOS setups have options for battery health or power settings. Make sure the battery is detected and properly configured in the BIOS.

Network Adapter:

  • While it’s less likely that a network adapter issue would prevent the laptop from starting without the AC adapter, it’s still worth checking. Go to the "Advanced" tab and find "Network Adapter" settings.
  • Ensure that the network adapter is enabled and properly configured.

Update BIOS:

  • If you’re comfortable with it, check if there’s a BIOS update available on HP’s support website for your specific laptop model. Sometimes updating the BIOS can resolve hardware compatibility issues.

Check for Battery Issues:

  • If BIOS settings are correct, and the problem persists, consider testing with a new or fully charged battery. Sometimes, the battery itself might be faulty and cause startup issues.

Save and Exit:

  • After making changes, make sure to save your settings and exit the BIOS.

If the laptop still has issues starting up without the AC adapter after checking these settings, the problem might be with the battery or other hardware components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
