HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p249sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p249sa and the hard disk has failed (HDD) I have a brand new crucial SSD drive installed and I have used the Microsoft Media tool to download win 10 64bit onto a usb drive.

 

I have been unable to get the system to recognise the usb drive

 

Legacy Support: Disabled

Secure Boot: Disabled

UEFI boot order: USB Hard Drive

OS boot manager

Results: Boot device Not found

 

 

Legacy Support : Enabled

Secure Boot: Disabled

UEFI boot order: USB Hard Drive

OS boot manager

Results: No Bootable devices -- insert boot disk and press and key 

 

Legacy Support : Disabled

Secure Boot: Enabled

UEFI boot order: USB Hard Drive

OS boot manager

Results: Boot device not found

 

Brand new USB stick.

 

I'd be thankfull for any help

Hi:

 

The only suggestion I can offer if you haven't done so already would be to use the F9 boot options menu to select the drive to boot from.

 

It should boot with any of the BIOS settings you posted.

 

With legacy mode enabled, you boot from the legacy USB diskette on key/USB hard drive and press the Enter key.

 

With legacy mode disabled, you boot from the UEFI USB diskette on key/USB hard drive, and press the Enter key.

 

To get to the F9 boot options menu, do the same thing you did to get to the F10 setup option, but select F9 instead.

I’ve just tried legacy disabled, secure boot disabled

used rufus to try GPT partition scheme so I can use UEFI

on pressing f9 I get the boot option menu but cannot select an operating boot device, I’ll try MBR next
