Hello friends,
My first Problem is if I search for drivers or bios updates on the hp support website, I can not find anything.
My SN is [edited]. If I look for drivers with that SN, it takes me to the 15-fd0111TU laptop. It is a much newer laptop than mine. My model is 15-u010dx. I am very confused about that.
I recently installed Windows 11 on my Envy 360 15-u010dx. And the camera is not working. It is not shown in the device manager. And there is no bios option to activate it. Maybe it is a hardware issue. But maybe it could also be fixed with a bios update. But I can not find a bios update, since I can not find the right support page for my laptop.
thanks for any help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The correct support page for your 15-u010dx is still available, and missing camera functionality after upgrading to Windows 11 is likely due to driver incompatibility—not BIOS.
Correct Support Page for HP Envy x360 15-u010dx
You can access the official drivers and BIOS updates here:
HP Envy x360 15-u010dx Drivers and BIOS
Once on the page:
- Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as your OS (Windows 11 drivers may not be listed, but Windows 10 drivers often work)
- Download the latest BIOS update, chipset, and camera driver (if available)
If no camera driver is listed, it may have been bundled with the chipset or imaging device drivers.
Why the Camera Is Missing in Device Manager
After upgrading to Windows 11, older HP models like the 15-u010dx may lose camera detection due to:
- Driver incompatibility with Windows 11
- Windows privacy settings blocking camera access
- Hardware disablement (rare, but possible if the camera module is loose or disconnected)
There’s no BIOS toggle for the camera on this model, and the issue is almost always driver-related.
Steps to Recover Camera Functionality
Enable Hidden Devices in Device Manager
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager
- Click View > Show hidden devices
- Look under Imaging Devices, Cameras, or USB Controllers
Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Visit: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
- Create a USB diagnostic tool and test the camera hardware directly
Use HP Cloud Recovery (If Available)
- Visit: HP Cloud Recovery Tool
- Enter your full product ID (including suffix after #)
- If supported, create a recovery USB with original drivers
Let me know what you find in Device Manager or if the diagnostics detect the camera—I’ll guide you further based on that.
You're doing everything right by investigating thoroughly and staying proactive.

Thanks Hawks_Eye
I will try your provided steps. Sadly if I click your link to the drivers and bios it just says the product is retired and I am recommended to buy a new laptop. ( https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/hp-envy-15-u000-x360-convertible-pc/model/7174404?sku=G6T84UA )
Since I only need it to surf the web and do run some office applications I don't see the need to buy a new laptop rn.
best regards
Marcel

So I am a small step further but it is still not working.
I can see the camera in the device manager now after showing hidden devices.
It is called HP Truevision HD.
But it tells me it is not connected .. It is an internal camera, how can it not be connected?
Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
The driver is provided by Microsoft, Version 10.0.26100.3470 dated 06/21/2006.
I tried downloading drivers from some other websites since I can not access the link you provided. But they are not working.

Thanks for getting back to us @marcelinho84
The “Code 45” error for your HP Truevision HD camera means Windows cannot detect a physical connection to the device—even though it’s internal. This is usually caused by driver incompatibility or a loose camera module, not BIOS settings.
You’ve done a great job narrowing this down. Since the camera appears in Device Manager only when hidden devices are shown, and the driver is a generic Microsoft version from 2006, it’s likely that Windows 11 isn’t communicating properly with the camera hardware.
Let’s walk through a few steps to help you recover functionality.
Steps to Fix HP Truevision HD Camera – Code 45 on HP Envy x360 15-u010dx
1. Run HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics
This will confirm whether the camera is physically connected and functioning.
- Download and install from HP:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 - Create a USB diagnostic tool and boot from it.
- Run the Camera Test under Component Tests.
- If the test fails or the camera isn’t listed, the module may be loose or disconnected internally.
2. Install Windows 10 Drivers Manually
Even though the product page is retired, archived drivers may still work.
- Visit HP’s legacy support page:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/hp-envy-15-u000-x360-convertible-pc/model/7174404 - Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as the OS.
- Download and install:
- Chipset Driver
- Intel Management Engine Interface
- HP System Event Utility
- Imaging Device Driver (if listed)
These may help Windows 11 recognize the camera properly.
3. Try Generic USB Video Device Driver
If no HP-specific driver works, switch to a generic one manually.
- In Device Manager, right-click HP Truevision HD > Update Driver
- Choose Browse my computer > Let me pick from a list
- Select USB Video Device and click Next
- Restart your laptop and test the camera
4. Check Windows Privacy Settings
Sometimes the camera is blocked at the OS level.
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera
- Ensure Camera access for this device is turned On
- Also enable access for apps like Camera, Teams, or Zoom
5. Inspect Hardware (If All Else Fails)
If diagnostics confirm the camera isn’t detected, the module may be loose.
- This model has a thin bezel camera module that can disconnect after servicing or impact.
- If you're comfortable, a technician can reseat the camera ribbon cable behind the display panel.
Let me know what the UEFI diagnostics report—whether the camera is detected or not. That will help confirm whether this is a driver issue or a hardware fault.
You’re absolutely right to keep using this laptop for web and office tasks—it’s still capable, and I’ll help you get the most out of it.
