Hello, everyone
I have Omen 15-dc1068tx, which has i7-9750h as a cpu and Windows 10 64bit 1909
recently i updated my BIOS from f.12 to f.14 version
once every while i do a benchmark testing and i noticed that since the update average benchmark on a cpu dropped for about 1.5-2%
could this be related to this new bios update? (some new safety or anti-meltdown measures?)
i wouldnt personally mind to sacrifice these 2% for safety, but i just want to be sure its nothing malicious affecting the cpu performance (average temperature and load % seems to be the same)
aslo, could i find those bios f.13 and f.14 release notes somewhere?
thanks

The drop in performance is by 1-2%. It may not be necessarily caused by the BIOS update.
The performance index may also change due to the installation of updates of other programs.
If you've updated the BIOS firmware from a reliable source, that is, from the HP website, then there is not going to be any malicious code in the BIOS firmware.

100%? you mean all the time? if thats the case, it is not really good, my friend
task manager can tell you what process is using all your cpu %, maybe it will help you solve the problem
im no specialist, so thats all i can come up with
in my case, my cpu usage is the same as usual, but the benchmarking results just got worse for no apparent reason

@RuskinF
Yes, its just that BIOS is what first came to mind
(all updates im installing from HP website, or Geforce website pretty much, im way too cautious about it)
i dont suspect BIOS to run some harmful code on me), im just suspecting maybe it is not caused by BIOS at all, as you said
it would be easy confirm though and put my mind at ease if in release notes to this BIOS update there is something that would indicate the possibility (like some anti-spectre flaws measuares), or somebody who knows for sure, can come and confirm or deny it
it is just my bet is on this BIOS update (just intuition, no facts to support it)
