HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-aa0000 (7M3L2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I just did a bios update on my new spectre and it deleted all of my personalizations on my home screen.  Is there any way to restore them?

Hi @mitchgae

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP Spectre x360 16-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC lost its home screen personalizations after a BIOS update, follow these detailed steps to restore them:

Step 1: Check Windows Restore Points

  1. Click Start and type Recovery.
  2. Select Recovery Options.
  3. Under Advanced Startup, click Restart Now.
  4. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.
  5. Select a restore point before the BIOS update and follow the prompts.

Step 2: Reapply Personalizations Manually

  1. Open Settings > Personalization.
  2. Check if your wallpaper, themes, and icons need to be reset.
  3. If your pinned apps disappeared, re-pin them to the Start menu.

Step 3: Reset BIOS Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.
  2. Navigate to the Exit Menu.
  3. Select Load Setup Defaults.
  4. Confirm by selecting Yes and save changes.
  5. Restart your laptop.

Step 4: Recover BIOS Using HP’s Key Press Combination

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Plug in the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold Windows + B keys.
  4. While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 1-3 seconds.
  5. Wait for the HP BIOS update screen to appear.
