I need to restore the BIOS because it stopped working after the update. I want to restore it from a USB drive. The updates are faulty on this model and are breaking the computer.

Hi @alfaomegagma

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

We're here to help you get back up and running.

I hear how concerning this feels—when the BIOS update interrupts normal startup, it can leave the system unusable until recovery is done. Before we move toward restoring from a USB drive, let’s carefully gather the right details so we can isolate the situation and guide you correctly:

  • Which HP computer model are you working with?
  • Do you recall the exact BIOS version or update that was applied before the issue started?
  • When you power on the computer now, what exactly happens—do you see any error messages, beeps, or does the screen remain blank?
  • Have you already created a BIOS recovery USB previously, or would this be the first time?
  • Is the system running Windows 10 or Windows 11?
  • Was the update applied through the HP App, HP Support Assistant, or downloaded manually from the HP site?

With these details, we’ll be able to determine the safest way to restore the BIOS and ensure the USB recovery process works smoothly. Could you share this information so we can narrow down the next steps?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,
