Hi,
I strongly recommend that you purchase HP Recovery media on USB and use it instead of performing anything else. This is the official procedure and is the easiest one when it comes to being user friendly and speed. Details have been posted above.
An additional procedure for clean Windows installation may not work and is not official. You can try it and most likely it will work but it is slightly more difficult and time consuming.
You can directly download Windows 10 ISO from MS site or download >>> Media creation tool from Microsoft site, create installation DVD or installation USB and proceed with clean installation/reinstallation.
Download:
When download completes, you will need to write or "burn" the ISO image and boot from a bootable media.
** How to create bootable ISO on USB device >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
or
** How to write ISO to DVD >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/burn-a-dvd-on-windows
When ready with the USB drive or with the DVD:
* Boot to BIOS (F10)
* Ensure Secure Boot is disabled.
* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled. (if applicable for your model)
* Save the UEFI/BIOS changes.
Details>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226
Eventually, please, shutdown the computer using the power button.
Insert the Windows USB thumdrive or the DVD prepared previously
Power on the PC.
As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu
Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the thumb drive or the DVD as a boot option.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 10.
Perform custom installation. Delete all existing partitions and install Windows on Disc 0 Unallocated space.
Install drivers taken from HP web site when Win installation completes or via Windows Update/Device Manager >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
Make sure Windows is fully updated.
Cheers!

Hello @Loyalty3
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
BitLocker is a Microsoft software designed to protect your PC against offline attacks, unauthorized access typically if your PC gets stolen. BitLocker is full disk encryption software. More info:
>> http://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-bitlocker-encryption-windows-10
BitLocker was activated by someone on this PC and during the activation time it prompts the user to save/store the key in a safe place.
If this is company owned asset/device, you should turn to your company's IT support guys and they should be able to provide you with the recovery key
If this is your own personal device, and if you don't know your recovery key, most probably you use a slightly different BitLocker version for certain PCs and tablets known as Device encryption. Your key might be stored in Microsoft OneDrive with your Microsoft account here :
More info >> https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/12/microsoft-may-have-your-encryption-key-heres-...
Try these and let me know if you manage to find the key.
If you don't find your key, there is no way to unlock the data on the hard disk drive and you will need to format it and reimage/reinstall Windows. Hope this helps and answers your query. Feel free to post again. 🙂

Thank you for your reply and for the provided details.
I just checked your model 15-BA009DX and it runs Win 10 Home. BitLocker should not be present on this model based on the specs of the PC and the OS. Did you upgrade it to Win 10 Pro ?
If you do not have BitLocker key stored on OneDrive or if it's not saved externally, you can't obtain it from the PC, therefore you won't be able to obtain the recovery key and can't decrypted the HDD to access it.
In order to reinstall Windows, you can reset the PC to factory default condition. If Win 10 Home is installed on the PC, you can follow the steps here >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net§ion=ccweb&sfs=tdoc&lc=en&language=e...
Follow the "F11 road".
Before going to reset, did you perform any hardware changes to the PC ? Any software changes ?
Can you try to power-off the PC by pressing and holding the power-on button for 5-10 seconds.
Then wait for a while, ensure no external devices are connected, no cables, and turn the laptop back on.
Only if this does not help, I'd recommend you proceed with reinstallation of Windows.
Let me know how it goes, please 🙂

- Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)
- Power the computer back on.
As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu
- Do you see F11 option there ?
- What F options you see and what they say , like F1 for System Information, F2 for .... ?

Well, in this case there is not much that you can do other than reinstalling Windows from an installation media.
If you have created your own recovery drive or media before, please use it.
If you haven't create your own recovery drive or own installation media, you need to purchase HP Recovery drive from HP. It costs about 30 $ and contains Windows, drivers and preinstalled apps. You can use it to boot from it and restore your PC to factory default condition.
1. Visit this URL >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-ba000-notebook-pc-series/10862317/model/13386...
2. Select your OS - Windows/Windows 10 (x64)
3. Scroll down to the list of drivers and click on "Order Recovery Media - CD/DVD/USB" to expand the option
4. Click on "Order now" to complete the process and order the media
## Once you receive it, please plug it in (insert it) in the PC. Start the PC and boot from it (F9) to reinstall Windows. Here are details >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net§ion=ccweb&sfs=tdoc&lc=en&language=e...
## Upon successful Windows installation and PC recovery, make sure that you update Windows (Start > Settings > Uodate & Security > Windows Update)
Hope this helps.
