hi, i have this problem,

if I start normal with the button, the screen is black an hard drive light after some blinks it turns on and never shuts off again.

if I start with win+b pressed till the fan runs full speed caps lock remains blinking all the time.

once I maded to start boot normal, don't know if it was because of complete shutdown, taking off the small batery 3v, or, if it was, because I let it there for an hour, with initializing with win+b pressed until fan runs at full speed and with a pen drive with a new version of BIOS installed.

after shutdown taking of the cable, cause it wouldn't shutdown with key pressed.

next try to boot, yet with a pen drive in, it passed POST, and a message appears, it said to remove any memories or removable devices , press enter to boot with pen drive, and i pressed, it disappeared fast and started to boot, next, a BSOD, saying " PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA". it restarted and started automatic repair but couldn't make it, I tried reinstall windows keeping personal files but gave an error, couldn't try anymore cause I had to go to work so shutdown. now, it's backstreet again and I am trying to do-it again.

its an HP ELITEBOOK 8570P and I think I provoked a memory error, running games by a eGPU and forcing the image back to embeved display.

I had it with an i7 3740, 16 gb ram,ssd 870evo.

first thing was changing to original parts

Hello,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Let me restate your current situation to make sure I understand correctly before walking you through recovery options.

System: HP EliteBook 8570p
Symptoms:

  1. Normal power-on → black screen, HDD LED blinks briefly, then stays solid (system stuck).

  2. BIOS recovery key combo (Win + B) → fan spins full speed, Caps Lock blinks continuously.

  3. One successful boot after CMOS battery removal and BIOS flash attempt from USB, but then BSOD “PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA.”

  4. Since then, the system is again failing to post.

Context: You were using an external GPU and suspect this may have stressed the internal graphics memory path.

Before we jump to conclusions, I need to confirm a few things:

  • When the system is powered on normally now, do you hear any beeps or see any Caps Lock blink patterns (for example, 2 blinks repeating)?

  • When you used the Win+B recovery, did you place the BIOS .bin file on a FAT32 USB drive in the root directory (not in a folder)?

  • Has the CMOS battery been reinstalled, and does the main battery hold any charge at all?

Based on what you’ve described so far, the issue likely falls into one of two categories:

1. Corrupted BIOS or Embedded Controller Firmware

The fact that the fan spins full speed with Win+B and that you once saw the BIOS recovery screen indicates that the system is trying to enter crisis recovery mode, but may not be completing it.
If the BIOS image is partially corrupted, the system will appear to power on but never initialize the video output — exactly what you’re seeing.

Next steps for this scenario:

  1. Disconnect AC power, main battery, and CMOS battery.

  2. Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual charge.

  3. Reinstall only AC adapter (leave both batteries disconnected).

  4. Prepare a USB flash drive (FAT32) with the latest BIOS for the 8570p (e.g., spxxxxx.exe package from HP Support → extract → locate the .bin or .sig file → place in the root directory).

  5. Insert the USB into the left USB 2.0 port (closest to the VGA port).

  6. Hold Win + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, release the Power button but keep Win + B held until you hear beeps or see activity on the USB LED.

  7. If the recovery runs, it can take up to 5 minutes — do not interrupt.

If the fan only spins full speed indefinitely with no USB activity, the BIOS region or EC firmware may be too corrupted to recover via Win+B.

2. Hardware-level fault (RAM or motherboard graphics path)

The “PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA” BSOD and your description of instability when using an eGPU suggest the possibility of a bad memory module or damaged GPU rail.

To test this:

  1. Remove all RAM modules.

  2. Clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol, reinstall one module in slot 1.

  3. Try to boot. If still dead, swap to slot 2 and test again.

  4. If available, try with a known-good single RAM module.

  5. Disconnect the SSD temporarily and see if POST behavior changes.

If it still does not POST with only CPU + 1 RAM + AC adapter, then the issue is at the motherboard level — likely the BIOS or GPU section.

If both BIOS recovery and minimal hardware tests fail

At that point, the board is considered non-recoverable by field methods. The only solution would be depot repair (board-level reprogramming or replacement).
