Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000 (7Y8M8AV)

I have a problem with the blue screen and the laptop stopping working called Hyper Visor Error. This problem occurs to me most of the time when I use the laptop normally, and when I turn it on when it is connected to electricity, I rarely get the problem, especially when I use a heavy program or game, I never get the blue screen. I formatted the device and updated literally everything on it, but I have the same problem and I don't know what the solution is

Hi @w67i,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry you're dealing with these frustrating blue screen errors on your Victus by HP laptop. I understand how disruptive it can be to face unexpected shutdowns, especially after going through the effort to update and format your system. Let’s dig into a few details that might help clarify what’s causing the error.

  • When the "Hypervisor Error" blue screen appears, does it happen consistently when performing certain tasks, or is it random?
  • Have you noticed any temperature issues with the laptop, especially when it’s not connected to power?
  • Do you have any virtual machine software (like Hyper-V, VirtualBox, or VMware) installed, or is it primarily running standard applications?

Here are some steps to help troubleshoot the Hypervisor Error:

Disable Hyper-V (if not needed):

  • Hypervisor errors are often related to virtualization features. If you’re not actively using virtualization, disabling Hyper-V might prevent this error.
  • Open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off. Uncheck Hyper-V and restart your laptop.

Check Power Management Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options, and select High Performance or Balanced. Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
  • Under Processor power management, set Minimum processor state to around 20% while on battery and 100% while plugged in. This can help stabilize performance across different power modes.

Update or Reinstall Virtualization and Chipset Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager and check for updates under System Devices (where virtualization drivers might be listed).
  • You may also want to manually reinstall the AMD/Intel chipset drivers by downloading the latest versions from the HP support page for your model.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Fast Startup can sometimes conflict with certain hardware settings, particularly with virtualization.
  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable. Scroll down and uncheck Turn on fast startup. Save and restart.

Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:

  • A BIOS update can often address system stability issues. Visit the HP support site, locate your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS update if one is available. Follow HP’s instructions carefully, as BIOS updates need to be done with caution.
