Hi @MrDevops

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining that—when Bluetooth disappears from Device Manager, it can feel like your laptop’s wireless magic just vanished.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help restore your Bluetooth adapter and get it working again on Windows 10.

🧼 Step 1: Show Hidden Devices

Sometimes Bluetooth is just hiding:

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Bluetooth or Network adapters—look for anything labeled “Unknown device” or “Bluetooth.”

If you find one, right-click and choose Update driver.

🔄 Step 2: Restart Bluetooth Services

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Bluetooth Support Service.
  3. Right-click > Properties > Set Startup type to Automatic.
  4. Click Start, then Apply.

🧰 Step 3: Add Legacy Hardware

If Bluetooth is still missing:

  1. In Device Manager, click Action > Add legacy hardware.
  2. Choose Install hardware manually.
  3. Select Network adapters, then Microsoft > Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI).
  4. Finish the wizard and restart your PC.

🧪 Step 4: Update or Reinstall Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support page and enter your laptop model.
  • Download the latest Bluetooth driver for Windows 10.
  • If unavailable, try the Windows 10 version in compatibility mode:
    • Right-click the installer > Properties > Compatibility tab.
    • Check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10.
    • Run as Administrator.

🧠 Step 5: Use Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter and follow the prompts.

We’ll get your Bluetooth back in action!
