Good afternoon, from Northwest Ohio. I am trying to help my uncle regain access to his machine, a Pavillion 15 running Windows 11. He lost his bitlocker encription key, so cannot sign back into Windows. I understand that a clean install is the solution here. Here's the problem. When I have him boot from a flash drive, prepared by Rufus, the only option in the f-9 boot menu is boot from efi file.
When I first started this project, secure boot was disabled in the bios. I was able to load default keys and enable secure boot. Before doing this, the secure boot options were grayed out. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Thanks much in advance for your help.

Create bootable USB using Rufus software in GPT partition as it is need to boot into UEFI bios mode. If secure boot is grey out then you need to set supervisor password first. (Don't forget this password ever so set something easy)

Thanks much for your quick reply. I’m happy to report. This problem is solved. The other thing that helped was using an unencrypted flash drive. The first drive was encrypted and needed software installed on the computer to encrypt it or allow access. The computer is now working perfectly. Thanks again.
