HP ENVY x360 m6 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
HP ENVY x360 m6 Convertible.  Current bios is F.20.  HP only shows one current bios and is F.51. Tried all the possible ways to update but continue to get "Bios update failed.  Image file did not pass validation." The operation does not make any changes to the current bios so the computer boots up normally with the current bios. I've downloaded file to different computers with no luck. Wondering if there are any bios updates available between the F.20 and F.51? If so, perhaps can upgrade in steps. Chasing random blue screens and would like to update the bios before possibly replacing hard drive. Or is there another reason for the failure of the bios to update?

OK.

This would be the latest BIOS.

If you look at the bottom of the page you can see revision history where you can get all the older versions.

You could run Hardware diagnostics at boot and see if there are any hardware problems, such as the Hard Drive

Turn off the PC by holding the power button until complete shutdown.

Turn on the PC and repeatedly press ESC until startup menu appears.

Press F2 to enter diagnostics.

Try performing the fast system test and see if there are any failure ids.

Thanks. It took a bit but complete bios update from f20 to f21. Still wouldn't jump to f61. jumped up a few more and was successful. Jumped to  one closer to f61 then finally f61 installed. Must have been something in one of the updates that prevented newer updates until it was installed.  Now hoping the random blue screens go away. Have run pretty much all the diagnostics. "Whocrashed" just mostly indicates unknown driver. Believe most drivers are now current so will wait and hope for the best
