Hi @Frank392,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you want to downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10, you'll need to follow a series of steps. The process can vary slightly depending on whether you're downgrading within a grace period after upgrading or if you're performing a clean installation of Windows 10. Here's a step-by-step guide for both scenarios:
1. Downgrade within the 10-Day Rollback Period
If you upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 10 within the last 10 days, you can use the built-in rollback feature. This will revert your system to Windows 10 without losing your personal files.
1.1. Open Settings
Access Settings:
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
Navigate to Update & Security:
- Click on Update & Security.
Go to Recovery:
- Select Recovery from the left-hand menu.
Rollback Option:
- Under Go back to Windows 10, click Get started.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the rollback process.
Note: This option is only available within 10 days of upgrading to Windows 11. After this period, the rollback option will no longer be available, and you will need to perform a clean installation of Windows 10.
2. Perform a Clean Installation of Windows 10
If the rollback period has expired or you prefer a fresh start, you'll need to perform a clean installation of Windows 10. Be sure to back up your data before proceeding, as this process will erase all your files.
2.1. Backup Your Data
- Backup Important Files:
- Save your important files to an external hard drive, cloud storage, or another safe location.
2.2. Create Windows 10 Installation Media
Download Media Creation Tool:
- Go to the Microsoft Windows 10 download page and download the Media Creation Tool.
Run the Tool:
- Open the Media Creation Tool and select Create installation media for another PC.
- Choose USB flash drive (recommended) or ISO file if you prefer to burn it to a DVD later.
- Follow the prompts to create the installation media.
2.3. Install Windows 10
Boot from Installation Media:
- Insert the USB flash drive or DVD into your PC.
- Restart your PC and boot from the installation media. You may need to change the boot order in your BIOS/UEFI settings.
Begin Installation:
- When prompted, select your language, time, and keyboard preferences, then click Next.
- Click Install now.
Enter Product Key:
- If prompted, enter your Windows 10 product key. If you don't have one, you can choose I don’t have a product key and proceed with the installation. Windows 10 should activate automatically if it was previously activated on this PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
