Hi @Anu1975,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If Google Chrome freezes when you use your HP pen on your device running Windows 11, it could be related to compatibility between the pen, Chrome, or Windows touch/pen input settings. Here's how to troubleshoot the issue.
Update Chrome and Drivers
- Chrome: Ensure that Google Chrome is updated to the latest version.
- Go to the menu (three dots in the upper-right corner) > Help > About Google Chrome and check for updates.
- Pen Drivers: Update your HP pen drivers and ensure that your device's touch and pen input drivers are current.
- Go to Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > right-click your pen input device (might be named as "HID-compliant touch screen" or similar) > Update driver.
- Windows Updates: Make sure Windows 11 is fully up-to-date by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
Disable Hardware Acceleration in Chrome
Sometimes, hardware acceleration causes issues with certain input devices.
- Open Chrome, click the three dots > Settings > System.
- Toggle Use hardware acceleration when available off, then restart Chrome.
Test in Incognito Mode or Disable Extensions
- Run Chrome in Incognito Mode (Ctrl+Shift+N) to see if an extension is causing the freeze.
- If it works in Incognito, disable extensions one by one in the main Chrome window (Settings > Extensions) to identify the problem.
Reset Chrome Settings
Resetting Chrome settings might resolve the issue if a misconfiguration is causing the freezing.
- Go to Settings > Reset and cleanup > Restore settings to their original defaults.
Pen Calibration & Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink and ensure the pen input is calibrated correctly.
- You can also try recalibrating the pen under Control Panel > Tablet PC Settings > Calibrate.
Use Other Browsers to Test
Try using another browser (like Microsoft Edge or Firefox) to check if the issue is specific to Chrome. This can help isolate whether the issue is with Chrome or Windows input handling.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
